Every family deserves to feel seen, respected, and supported.
As a doula, my mission is to provide compassionate, inclusive care that honors the unique experiences, identities, and journeys of the families I serve. LGBTQ+ individuals and couples often face additional challenges when navigating fertility, pregnancy, birth, adoption, surrogacy, and postpartum life. Having a supportive care team can make a meaningful difference during these important transitions.
Families Come in Many Forms
There is no single path to parenthood.
Some LGBTQ+ families may build their families through pregnancy, IVF, donor conception, surrogacy, foster care, or adoption. Others may be navigating co-parenting arrangements or blended family dynamics. Every journey is valid, and every family deserves care that acknowledges and celebrates their story.
As a doula, I believe support should never require families to explain, defend, or justify who they are.
What Inclusive Doula Care Looks Like
Affirming care goes beyond using inclusive language. It means creating an environment where families feel safe, respected, and empowered throughout their journey.
Inclusive doula support includes:
• Respecting names, pronouns, and family structures• Using gender-inclusive language when appropriate• Providing nonjudgmental emotional support• Advocating for respectful communication from care providers• Supporting informed decision-making• Honoring each family's cultural and personal values• Creating space for questions, concerns, and emotions
Every family deserves to feel comfortable being their authentic selves during one of life's most significant transitions.
Supporting LGBTQ+ Families Through Pregnancy and Birth
Pregnancy and birth can bring excitement, anticipation, and vulnerability. LGBTQ+ parents may also encounter healthcare environments that are not always designed with their experiences in mind.
A doula can help provide:
Continuous emotional support
Birth preparation and education
Advocacy and communication support
Comfort measures during labor
Encouragement and reassurance
Partner support throughout the birth experience
The goal is to help families feel informed, confident, and supported every step of the way.
Supporting Families Beyond Birth
The need for support does not end once a baby arrives.
The postpartum period is a time of adjustment, healing, bonding, and learning. Whether a family welcomed a baby through birth, adoption, or surrogacy, the transition into parenthood deserves care and attention.
Postpartum support may include:
Newborn care education
Feeding support
Emotional wellness support
Practical household assistance
Sleep and routine guidance
Encouragement during the adjustment to parenthood
Every parent deserves support during this season.
Creating a Space Where Everyone Belongs
At the heart of doula care is the belief that all families deserve compassionate support.
I am committed to creating an affirming environment where LGBTQ+ individuals, couples, and families feel welcomed, respected, and empowered. Your family matters. Your story matters. Your journey deserves care that reflects your unique needs and experiences.
Whether you are preparing for pregnancy, welcoming a new baby, or navigating postpartum life, you do not have to do it alone.
